"Westworld" episode 8 titled "Trace Decay" picks off after Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright) killed Theresa (Sidse Babett) by bashing her head in the wall a few times. That act was a direct command from the park's creator Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins).

The last scene from episode 7 reveals that Bernard, who is the head of the Programming Division, is a creation of Ford. This shows that for Ford, robots are upgrades to humans and are not meant to be their servants, Vox reported. Ford commanded Bernard to make Theresa's death look like an accident and brought him back online.

There have been fan theories since the beginning of the show that Bernard could be a Host, Telegraph UK reported. This was somehow backed by the events that took place in episode seven; however, he is not the same as any other Hosts.

He was not completely naked when brought inside the control center to be analyzed. This somehow casts a shadow of confusion on how to tell which ones are humans and which ones are Hosts.

One of the biggest questions is Bernard's backstory. He had recurring dreams of his dead son and his family. Show creator Lisa Joy said that Bernard's backstory is in fact his family. She said that Bernard's conversation with his wife mimics that of a grieving ex-wife.

This makes him grounded to the truth of his reality. This is also a strategy for Ford to make sure that Bernard is not reaching, Lisa Joy said.

Westworld made its viewers believe that most Hosts are not self-conscious or self-aware. But with the events in the last two episodes, fans just couldn't tell anymore which ones are Hosts and which ones are not. It is a big mind-bender how Ford gave Bernard control over other fellow Hosts. The park's owner also gave this special Host the knowledge that he is, in fact, a Host himself.

As this mystery finally unfolded, will the last two episodes of the show explain the rest? Find out as Westworld airs every Sunday night on HBO.
