Recently, it has been confirmed that Huawei Mate 9 will run Android 7.0 Nougat as the main operating system of choice. With that, the Chinese tech company's Huawei Mate 8 is about to get an update that brings the same Android operating system.

Although the update is available right now through Huawei servers, even so, it has not been officially released. Which means the Android 7.0 Nougat update won't do it over the air, and probably not until the Huawei Mate 9 has been released to retailers in the U.S. and other parts of the globe.

Anyway, it makes a perfect sense for the Chinese tech giant to wait until after the Mate 9, for the reason that it's easier to get smartphone users to upgrade. In spite of that, a number of Huawei Mate 8 users have downloaded and installed the Android 7.0 Nougat update, and these users have also shared how it is done, according to XDA Developer Forum.

On the other hand, despite being unleashed on Aug., hardly any devices outside of Google's Nexus and Pixel smartphones are officially powered by Android Nougat. As a matter of fact, only about 0.3 percent of all Android devices with the Play Store actually has the update. However, plenty of Verizon customers have now claimed that their Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Droid Force smartphones have received over-the-air programming (OTA) to Nougat, Android Police reported.

With the Nov. 1 security patch level, the update fetches the devices to Android 7.0. The Android 7.0 Nougat update also allows the Z Droid and Z Droid Force to make a practical use of the Daydream mode, as well as joining the ZTE Axon 7 as the only non-Pixel smartphone with the feature.

The download of the update sets up 1586 MB, so users might want to download the update over Wi-Fi. In addition, as the software updates always roll out over the course of several days, so all smartphone owners should grab it shortly.
