Battery life has been an important issue for every smartphone users in everyday life. There have been different sorts of application that promise to extend battery life or “battery hacks” like turning location services off, disabling some apps, or attending in a flight mode that are manually available. Yet, all these have little success but nothing major of a solution.

Not until many have read the story of Russell Holly an Android blogger. He argued that uninstalling the Facebook app can save an enormous amount of battery life based on his own experiment.

Russell Holly ran the test with his LG G4. Using DiscoMark, he found out that his phone ran much faster without the Facebook app and the Facebook Messenger and extended his smartphone’s battery life.

His discovery has made a Reddit thread and a lot of people have been interested with the trick that he found. More and more are taking the advice seriously and started discussing how the Facebook app is consuming more battery life anything that is more than expected.

A Reddit user have said, “Apart from some more sophisticated wake-lock based arguments, most are anecdotal and more in the “I am pretty sure I feel my phone is faster” ballpark.”

Some users of Twitter have also tried and noticed the difference. One user said on a tweet, “The Facebook app is such a battery hog. Seriously, just removing it saves me a week of charging. So poorly designed.”

Recently, many have repeated this trick. Tech World Zone have decided to test for themselves and see if there is really truth about Holly’s claim. Using a Huawei Nexus 6P for testing, they have also found out that the phone had 20% more battery life over the course of a day. This discovery has remained correct every single day in a week.

According to TWZ, a Facebook representative said that they have heard the reports on the application problem. However, they did not specifically point out the battery life issue.
