Volkswagen is looking for something new, it wants you to make forget of your diesel-powered vehicle. With that in mind, the German automaker has introduced a new e-Golf Touch electric vehicle with a range of 124 miles.

Unveiled at the recent Los Angeles Auto Show, the facelifted 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf comes with a refreshed design, a much bigger electric battery and semi-autonomous features.

The new e-Golf model has the same styling as its gas-powered sibling, but with lots of impressive tech on board. It comes with a new look thanks to new bumper and taillights and new LED headlights.

Powering the new electric vehicle will be the company's new 134 horsepower, 110kW 1.5 TSI Evo engine. This increases the car's range to 124 miles on a single charge, a 41-mile up from the previous e-Golf model. The 2017 e-Golf can reach a top speed of 93 mph, slightly faster from its previous top speed of 87 mph. It can hit 60 mph in just 9.6 seconds.

In terms of tech, the new car features an optional driver assistance package that includes autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane assist, park assist, blind spot monitoring, and a system designed to detect if the driver has become incapacitated. In that case, the e-Golf will slow down and steer itself to the side of the road, providing safety for the driver.

In addition, the car is also equipped with the new Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, which integrates the car's various driver's instruments into a 12.3-inch screen ahead of the driver. It also gets a 9.2-inch touchscreen in the center stack, which will be provided with gesture controls along with compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The new 2017 e-Golf is expected to hit the market on early 2017. No words on price and release date, as Volkswagen is still working on the specification.
