When you were little, you probably believed you could be anything you want to be, whether it is to become a rock star, astronaut, professional athlete or a doctor. However, as you grow older, you realize that you don't have the skills to be what you dreamt to be. And according to several studies, only a small percentage of children end up achieving their childhood dreams. This is because when you were little, you were not yet aware of other career fields like being a software developer, project manager and the like. But what you have to remember is that your childhood dreams are simply not just childish dreams and that they have to be taken seriously because they can significantly increase your success on your current career.

According to a report published by LinkedIn, it is the childhood dream jobs that reflect a person's true passion and talents.

Nicole Williams, LinkedIn's career expert said "What we have a genuine interest in is, in the vast majority of cases, tied to what we're good at or have a competency for - even if it's something we have to practice or train for to become skilled,"

"We don't generally enjoy doing what we don't have an inherent ability to do." She added.

You need to ask yourself why you thought about that dream job when you were a child, and why you wanted to achieve it. Maybe it is what you have always wanted to become or you have always had the skills and the talents which that dream entails.

Even if it does not necessarily translate to the exact job you dreamt of, if you can associate your current job with the same passion you had when you were a kid, you are more likely going to be successful and happy with what you do.
