Sony launched its 'Concept for Android' program for Sony Xperia X models that enables users to experience the latest firmware of Android 7.0 nougat, which may include the split-screen mode and the change in notification orders.

As stated in Sony Mobile's official blog, Sony's "Concept for Android" was released last as a crowdsourcing program to explore new ideas in software innovation and experiences, while bundling in its inTouch community service. Through this program, users may send feedback to Sony's developers to determine consumer preference based on real-time usage.

Tech Times reported that the latest beta builds were built based on Android 7.0 Nougat. This latest concept for Android release is offering features that will form part of the system running on future Xperia devices, like notification improvements, multi-window support, seamless update and some other interface tweaks.

In Sony's blog post, it says: "We believe the age of user experience and development deference is over. If you don't like something; a feature or app isn't serving your needs - we want to hear about it, to either make the experience better or remove it entirely and focus on something else. The inTouch in-device feedback portal and dedicated community will continue, offering channels for sharing feedback directly with our software engineers - but you'll also have the opportunity to use the software and receive the updates without providing feedback should you so wish."

Currently, Sony is launching its Android 7.0 Nougat-based initiative on Xperia X users in Europe. However, the company is still yet to confirm if the company plans to make it more widely available to other devices or in other markets.

In order to participate into the program, users could simply download the "Concept Installer" app from Google Play and follow the simple steps to guide them through the setup process.

This update shall be available for those who joined the beta testing program. To check manually the Android 7.0 Nougat for Sony Xperia X, users should access their phone settings by going to 'About Device' and checking for software updates.

Before installing the beta program, users are advised to perform a backup as the reboot will erase all of the installed and stored files in the phone. They should also ensure that the handset is charged up to at least 80 percent as the installation requires energy.

Users are also warned that few of the features are still experimental so they might encounter bugs or may have stability issues after installing.
