Following the success of "The Jungle Book" and "Maleficent," Disney is working on the live-action adaptation of its timeless classics. With development for "Mulan" now underway, the company is also confirmed to be working on "Snow White."

The studio is in negotiations with "The Girl on the Train" screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson to work on the script for "Snow White" live-action movie, Variety reported. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, whose work on "La La Land" is receiving tremendous applause, are attached to write the songs for the movie. While Marc Platt is confirmed to produce the movie, no director or actors have been confirmed to join the "Snow White" ensemble yet.

The "Snow White" live-action movie is said to expand the story and music from the classic movie.

The original Snow White animated film, titled "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," was first released in 1937. It is based on a fairytale written by the Brothers Grimm and was Disney's first animated feature film that earned huge success for the studio.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie received an honorary Oscar at the 11th Academy Awards and to this day is regarded as one of the most successful animated films in history.

Since its inception, the story of Snow white has been retold in movies. In 2012, "Mirror Mirror" was a light-hearted musical centering on Snow White and starred Julie Roberts and Lily Collins as Snow White. Meanwhile, Universal delivered a darker version of the story, titled "Snow White and the Huntsman," which starred Kristen Stewart as the female lead. Snow White is also one of the main characters in the hit TV series "Once Upon a Time."

With "Beauty and Beast" coming out in 2017, the excitement and expectations are running high for Disney's upcoming live-action releases. So far, "Mulan" has been confirmed for 2018 and "The Lion King" is being developed by Jon Favreau, who worked on the 2016 critically acclaimed movie "The Jungle Book." Guy Ritche has also been attached to develop a live-action adaptation of "Aladdin."

No release date for the "Snow White" live-adaptation movie has been confirmed.
