It has been the mission of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to strengthen educational developments in Nigeria and President-elect Donal Trump consented to this ideology. He recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding or MOU fresh from his election victory with the Sokoto state government.

Michael Harvey, Nigeria's USAID Mission Director led the team for the sealing of the joint venture early this week and he is also appreciative of Sokoto Sate's Gov. Aminu Tambuwal's dedication to providing quality education to its children, according to Vanguard.

Sokoto State has been commended by US authorities for their massive efforts in making education in their territory not inferior from other states of Nigeria, hoping that they will produce advanced workforce later on that can be competitive in the world.

The MOU is the initial step towards this goal. Primary education will be enhanced to be at par with the US standard of learning or perhaps close. This should be attainable in the first five years MOU validity.

There is already an existing collaboration between USAID and the Sokoto Government prior to Donald Trump's presidency when it comes to education. Trump's support is invaluable for the US agency to continue being mutually accountable for the project and for monitoring and evaluation responsibilities to assure its progress.

The USAID supports the Northern Education Initiative Plus as well as the Leadership, Empowerment, Advocacy and Development, that will expand the government's capacity for the improvement of the education sector of the country.

This will enable educators to teach writing and reading skills to 2 million primaries and hoping to extend to another 500,000 children in 2020 with the help of USAID. The collaboration is not new since this has been a mission of the agency during the last administration, as per the USAID website.
