"Diablo Guardian" is slated to introduce new producers in the TV adaptation of the iconic bestseller.  The project was also presented last week at a  Los Cabos Int'l Film Festival. "Diablo Guardian" will reportedly be shot in both English and Spanish.

SVOD platform Blim reportedly tapped "Gimme the Power" producer Joce Nacif to work on the Xavier Velasco bestseller. Nacif reportedly noted the project as a privilege to work on. "Diablo Guardian" will also include "Guero" producer Ramiro Ruiz, "Amores Perros" producer Francisco Gonzalez Compean and "La Dictadura" producer Rodrigo Santos.

"Diablo Guardian" was once rumored to be impossible to adapt, Gonzalez Compean said. The storyline will track an upper class teen from Mexico City who escapes with hoards of money to New York and Las Vegas. The story will center on her life spirals in a world of drugs, prostitution and dangerous men who quickly dry up her funds.

"Diablo Guardian" was first presented at the 5th Los Cabos International Film Festival on Nov. 12. The series is currently in production and will span 10 episodes. The lead role will be played by "Sin Nombre" actress Paulina Gaitan. Joining her will be "Gueros" actor Adrian Ladron, Variety reported.

In other news, the 5th Los Cabos Festival that "Diablo Guardian" joined was also graced by "The Rosenbergs" Sophie Barthes. She reportedly took the biggest cash prize from the fest's "Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund". Furthermore, "X500" also took the Mexico Primero Cinemex Award.

"Diablo Guardian" is also said to be one of the flagship series of Televisa SVOD service Blim. All four newly added Mexican film producers reportedly delivered more details on the TV adaptation, El Universal reported. The air date is yet to be revealed but the project is already ongoing and if the book will be followed, may shoot in the United States as well. Watch: Xavier Velasco, un Diablo Guardian
