Now that Hillary Clinton's supporters are faced with the sad reality about their defeat, accepting and dealing with the outcome can be seriously hard. It is not easy to sit with those feelings especially when you are Clinton's die hard supporter, and it's really normal and natural to feel those emotions of sadness, shock, disappointment and betrayal. However, the most important thing here is to know how to handle and do something about these post-election emotions the best way that you can.

According to Susan A. David, a psychologist at Harvard Medical School and the author of "Emotional Agility", whatever it is that you feel at the moment is perfectly okay, because what matters is what you do about those feelings.

David shares these tips to help you deal with your post-election feelings.

Be aware of your feelings and be specific about it. According to David, it is important to "get to a space where we can label emotions in an honest way." By this she means that you have to recognize the other options for feeling a certain emotion. Like when you feel angry, you can probably ask yourself too if you feel hurt or you feel fearful.

"Reach a stage where you are bringing to the surface what's happening to you," David said.

Another tip David shared is to avoid venting because if you think that you are doing yourself a favor or if you think that that it's helping, it's actually not. You will only make yourself feel angrier because you are not processing your feelings, but are dwelling on them the more that you talk about them.

Lastly, she advised about being compassionate even with people who do not have the same views as yours. David said that compassion does not mean you have to agree or to accept other people's point of view, but it is more of understanding everyone and their values.

"Be open to people who felt like their voices were lost and therefore voted in a particular way," David said.
