The Orange Pi PC 2 is an open source but fully functional single board computer. It can be used in various and sophisticated applications at a mere price of $20.

Who Can Use It And For What Purpose?

Computer enthusiasts who like to build technological devices will like to get their hands on the Orange Pi PC 2. The uses of this single computer board are varied, from wireless servers, speakers to HD Videos. It could be used to play games, music or for designing animations in Scratch, according to the official Orange Pi site.

Orange Pi PC 2 Specs

The single board computer can run under various Operating Systems (OS) namely, Android 4.4, Debian and Ubuntu Linux as well as Banana pi and Rasberry Pi Image. It is being run by the AllWinner H5 Cortex-A53 64 bit Quad Core. The processor includes a multimedia acceleration engine, co-processor and Java accelerator.

The Orange Pi PC 2 has a GPU that has a 4x anti-aliasing engine that support Open GL ES 1.0 to 2.0 and OpenVG 1.1 as well as EGL. The graphic card can run at 40 GFlops and could fill the screen with more than 2.7 GPixels. The Orange's memory is a 1GB DDR3 that is also being shared with the graphic card.

It internal storage consist of either a TransFlash Card that can contain up to a maximum of 64GB and or a 2MB NOR Flash. Various ports include the standard internet jack, video and audio inputs and outputs. Video can support NTSC and PAL protocol, camera sensor and capture solution that runs up to 1080 pixels running at 30 fps. It also has an HDMI port and 3.5 mm Jack. The Orange Pi has three 2.0 USB (Host) and an OTG type.

The Orange Pi PC 2 board computer has a small dimension of 85 x 55 mm and weighs less than 100 grams. It is manufactured by the Shezhen Xunlong Software group.
