The upcoming sequel to the 1995 "Jumanji" film, which was initially set to be released during this Christmas, was once moved to summer of July. Now it seems that it is being pushed back again to next year's Christmas instead.

The change was announced on Friday by one of the lead actors, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The actor took to his personal Instagram account to post a photo with a lengthy caption explaining that the movie was always slated to be released during the summer of 2017, Deadline reported.

After months of shooting and editing, he realized that they have a big family franchise on their hands. Johnson further exclaimed that like so many of us, it is his favorite time of the year and he loves delivering holiday entertainment.

He ended the caption by enumerating his upcoming movie projects; from Disney's 'Moana' which is set to release this Thanksgiving, to "Rock the Troops" this Christmas and "Jumanji" next Christmas

So there it is, folks. Guess we\'ll have to wait longer!

The film adaptation of the 1981 children's book by Chris Van Allsburg centered on a young boy named Alan Parrish (Robin Williams), who, together with his best friend Sarah Whittle, became trapped in a board game that they were playing.

Almost three decades later, two siblings discovered the board game and unwittingly released the now-adult Alan-who then finds Sarah so that they can work together in finishing the game in hopes of undoing all the destruction it had caused.

The 2017 "Jumanji" will be directed by Jake Kasdan. According to Slash Film, it will revolve around four teenagers portrayed by stars Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Dwayne Johnson. Earlier reports also confirmed that Nick Jonas will make an appearance.
