Even royals have their bad days and they are defintely not immune to the things we common people experience. Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, can attest to that fact. The bad day in question was getting the sack at work because of a mistake common to a lot of people.

The revelation came from Imogen Taylor, one of the senior interior designers at Colefax and Fowler, an interior design company in London. Taylor, who has worked in the company since 1949, mentioned in an interview with the Sunday Times that the young duchess, who was Camilla Shand at that time, was fired from her job.

She reminisced that the Duchess of Cornwall was a young debutante when she started working as an assistant at the company. Typical of young debutantes who love partying the night away, Parker-Bowles loved being at parties not only because they were fun but because she was entering the London society scene.

Taylor said that the young duchess came in late that day after a night of partying. However, that did not sit well with Tom Parr, her boss that time at Colefax and Fowler and he sacked her right then and there.

But that was all in the past as we all know by now because Camilla has outgrown her wild, partying ways. As the wife of Prince Charles now, she religiously conducts her public duties either with her husband, Prince Charles or alone. She and Prince Charles will also assist Queen Elizabeth in welcoming the President of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos Calderon when he visits Britain soon.

This little story is a part of Taylor's memoir called 'On The Fringe: A Life in Decorating' which talks about her life and long career as an interior designer at Colefax and Fowler. Taylor was one of the key interior designers who developed the English country house style.
