"Avatar" maker James Cameron hopes that his upcoming 3D films will be viewed without the use of the glasses. Such technology is feasible since its being used in Nintendo 3DS games.

"Avatar 2" - A 3D Viewing Experience Without Glasses

James Cameron is envisioning a future where his upcoming "Avatar" films will be featured in 3D and in front of an audience who won't need the required glasses. However, his current works are focused on more realistic goals like high dynamic range and frame rates for the Avatar sequels.

"Avatar" fans will once again see Jake (played by Sam Worthington) and his wife Neytiri (played by Zoe Saldana) in the upcoming sequels. The couple will continue to protect Pandora and its Na'vi inhabitants against the "human invaders". Unfortunately, this is the general plot known so far.

Feasibility of 3D Without Glasses

3D glasses in cinema have not quite caught up with gaming technology where Nintendo 3DS players can view 3D game without the use of glasses. Fortunately, the 3D cinema technology has made significant progress since Cameron first released "Avatar" on 2009.

Why "Avatar" Need So Many Sequels

Cameron also explained why the original trilogy ballooned into five movies. The sequels were split into four because he and his writers apparently wrote too much material for "Avatar". But he also claimed that the producers were okay with it due to its income potential. Of course, the costs of production will also go up as a result. The sequels should also come out every year but he is in a quandary on how he could do that. Meanwhile, he also talked about the Blu-ray edition of his movie, "the Abyss". Aside from a the Blu-ray, an HDR version will be included in the release at the same time. 

Projected Release Dates For the "Avatar" series

The expected release date for the first "Avatar" sequel is on 2018. The other sequels will be spread within a five year period after "Avatar 2" comes out.
