Galaxy J series is a step down from the A series. It has a considerable difference when it comes to the chassis. Galaxy A5 is encased in all-metal body whilst the J7 chassis is made of plastic and metal frame. Both looks sturdy but Galaxy A5 gives off the premium feel.

Galaxy A5 is a 5.2-inch smartphone with better pixel density than Galaxy J7 that sports 5.5-inch display. Both Samsung's flagships rock Super AMOLED display with Galaxy A5's being the one protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and equipped with fingerprint scanner.

When used for taking pictures, Galaxy J7 results visible noise whereas Galaxy A5 succeeds in capturing sharp images and more accurate details. Both devices pair 13MP and 5MP cameras but Galaxy A5 already supports OIS for image stabilization.

The 2016 edition of Galaxy J7 and Galaxy A5 pair 2GB RAM with 16GB inbuilt storage. However, Galaxy J7 gets Snapdragon 617 under the hood wherein Galaxy A5, it sports a Snapdragon 615 chipset, GSM Arena reported. Both phones run Android Marshmallow but Galaxy A5 users have to upgrade from Lollipop.

The main drawback of Galaxy A5 (2016) is the lower battery capacity, 2,900 mAH. Galaxy J7 (2016) packs 3,300 mAh battery but there is no fast-charging feature for the phone.

Galaxy J7 is an affordable option for potential users who wish to buy with a budget. The Galaxy A5 wins in many categories but still, there are a few drawbacks such as the low battery capacity and somehow, overpriced device when compared to Redmi Note 3.
