Virtual Reality (VR) is just getting started when Oculus Rift and Vive was released in early 2016, and just last month on PlayStation VR. While Sony is really pushing this new technology with their PS4, the Xbox One is staying away from VR for now. Microsoft's Xbox boss Phil Spencer had some interesting comments regarding the current state of virtual reality gaming.

Spencer spoke about the topic of VR, where the Xbox boss revealed that he has used it a good bit, which includes owning an HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, and experienced PlayStation VR as well, Stevivor reported.

Spencer said that most of these things he's playing now feel like demos and experiments, which the Xbox boss think it's absolutely the right thing to have happened. He claimed that he is not criticizing at all.

When Spencer was asked if Xbox would be planning to bring VR to Xbox One, or more specifically next year's Scorpio, he made it known that they are looking into the potential of VR with Xbox Scorpio but they are not sure when they would feel comfortable with the technology.

Spencer thinks VR will find its place in gaming. Even so, they designed Scorpio as a VR-capable console; however, he doesn't have any specific date as to when the VR will hit the Scorpio console.

Spencer is also bothered regarding the cumbersome nature of VR headsets. The Xbox head said that whether individuals are going to put something on their head, Spencer thinks it is actually a legitimate question. Gamers are not going to walk around in a shielded environment along with a cord at scale. That's absolutely where VR technology has to be today.

In spite of that, Microsoft did recently hinted that its partners, which includes Dell and HP, are working on Windows 10 compatibility for VR headsets; however, it is unclear if their plan will figure into the scheme of the Xbox division, according to The Verge.
