"Rambo: New Blood" is a reboot film that will not feature its old star Sylvester Stallone. The question is who will play the lead role?

Rebooting Old Film Without The Original Star

The "Rambo" movie series, including the "Rocky" series, were all starred by Stallone, but the original movies were made during the 1980s. It is quite understandable that Syl will not return to the reboot film due to his advanced age. He even said that he is willing to come back but his body can no longer do the part.

Who Will Be The Lead Star For "Rambo: New Blood"?

Nu Image / Millennium Films are currently looking for a younger actor to star in the upcoming reboot film, according to THR. No names have been suggested yet as of press time, but the reboot movie will still be written by Brooks McLaren and directed by Ariel Vromen. Meanwhile, even the Rambo character will also be rebooted making it much closer to a James Bond type.

The Need For Rambo Character Reboot

The producers have decided to reboot the Rambo character, presumably to stay updated with the current times. In the original storyline, The "Rambo" series is an action film that also exposes the plights of many Vietnam War veterans as they try to rebuild their lives in the States.

The upcoming film is still in its early stages and no story line or synopsis has yet been given; however, if the producers are trying to keep as close to the original as possible, then the new Rambo may be a veteran from Iraq, Afghanistan or both, according to Cinemablend.

Stallone has declared that he is not going to resume the lead role in "Rambo: New Blood," but that does not mean that he is not going to appear as a supporting actor or even cameo role. It would be interesting to watch Stallone passing on the old mantle to a new generation.
