Square Enix has launched a new website teasing a new still-unnamed "Final Fantasy" game on mobile, one that involves the designer of a famous game decades ago..

The website, spotted by Gematsu, features a two-day countdown as of writing time, with artwork designed by famed FF designer Yoshitaka Amano, and a note from famed "Chrono Trigger" and "Parasite Eve" director Takashi Tokita.

According to Tokita, who is also involved in many other famous titles, Final Fantasy is about characters with human appeal, and will focus on the drama of anger and sadness. He further elaborated that players should not forget it's about fantasy. The unnamed title is going to be released for mobile platforms, namely, mobiles running on iOS and Android, just like the earlier-released "Mobius Final Fantasy."

Aside from this new title, Square Enix will be releasing the highly-anticipated "Final Fantasy XV." It will be released next month, and will be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It will have a multiplayer mode once its final DLC is out.

Fan Reactions

While the teaser succeeded in raising player's excitement and hopes, apparently some are disappointed at the fact that the new game will be for mobile platforms. Commenters posting on various sites noted that they became excited upon hearing the news about a new Final Fantasy game, but lost that excitement after discovering that it's for iOS and Android, and note even for handhelds such as Nintendo's 3DS.

Still, others aren't bothered by a new game released for mobile platforms. After all, the next big FF game will be released in a few weeks' time.

Meanwhile, still no sequel

Tokita, whose credits include "Final Fantasy III," "Final Fantasy IV," "Final Fantasy V," and "Chocobo Racing," is currently heading Square Enix's Business Division 9. Although he reportedly made mention of "Chrono Trigger 2" in an interview (in Japanese) in 2003, details about the said much-desired official sequel are nowhere to be found.

Details about the teased mobile "Final Fantasy" game are nil as of the moment, so stay tuned for more details. "Final Fantasy XV" for the PS4 and Xbox One will be released November 29.
