The announcement and imminent release of the Nintendo Switch should not be a reason for gamers to forget that Nintendo is also set to release "Super Mario Run" in December this year for the iOS.

"Super Mario Run" was introduced in September with the game said to be optimized for smart devices and playable with one hand. According to Nintendo, over 20 million people have already signified their intent to be notified when the title is about to be released.

Announced previously to be released in 100 countries, Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima during their last financial presentation announced that they are planning to release "Super Mario Run" in 150 countries initially for the iPhone and iPad in December. He also said during the presentation that an Android version of the game is in the works although they cannot commit a release date for the game just yet.

Downloading "Super Mario Run" is free and will be free to play until a certain level is reached. The whole content of the game will be available to users after paying the set subscription price without any further additional charges. Mr. Kimishima said further details including pricing for the game would be announced at a later date.

"Super Mario Run" might follow the same pricing structure as that of Nintendo's other titles most notably for the Nintendo 3DS, according to Slash Gear. There was no mention which 150 countries the game would be released come Dec. 2016

The success of the mobile hit Pokemon Go is the driving force that made Nintendo decide to develop its next mobile game. Mr. Kimishima said there is no doubt that many people play games on their mobile devices. The goal he said, was for Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto and his team to spread "Super Mario Run" as quickly as Pokemon Go.
