Halloween is almost just around the corner and it's time for trick or treat again, which translates to candies and chocolates. When it comes to chocolate, there's a silent war going on which one is better, milk chocolate or dark chocolate. Experts and science seem to favor the dark variety citing its health benefits and other advantages one can get from it. How about milk chocolate? Here's an argument why milk chocolate is much better than dark chocolate.

The first argument milk chocolate has against their dark counterpart is the taste. If a person is honest enough, real dark chocolate is indeed bitter. In fact, there's a study conducted about it where people had to assess the texture of dark chocolate and the conclusion was that a product which has a very high amount of cocoa is 'dry, mealy, and sticky.'

Aside from that, defendants of milk chocolate maintain that the glorification of dark chocolate as a luxury and health item is a lie. It seemed like there is a great lobby for making dark chocolate a luxury item just the way diamonds have been marketed. Dark chocolate has been branded to be higher than its cousins and relatives. Even the packaging has been extra special as well.

Then, there's Hershey's funding a research that showed dark chocolate has a number of health benefits. Mars followed suit by placing its dark chocolate products alongside health bars in Target to give an impression that it is also a health food. Dark chocolate as being healthy has some validity to it because it has lower sugar content than the regular chocolate.

If there's one redeeming factor for dark chocolate, it is much better than white chocolate which is not chocolate at all other than the name it carries, but that will be another subject for discussion.
