"The Winds of Winter" is the most awaited "Game of Thrones" book right now. Meanwhile, the author is teasing a GOT prequel book.

"The Winds of Winter" was supposed to come out before the premiere of "Game of Thrones" Season 6; however, "Game of Thrones" series writer George R.R. Martin apologized that the upcoming novel did not meet the deadline.

"Game of Thrones" Season 7 is currently under production, but so far, the highly anticipated "Winds of Winter" book has yet to be published. Martin did acknowledge in his Live Journal Blog that he is a slow writer, but at least his books made a crossover to television. Many GOT fans are patiently waiting for his next book's release.

"The Winds of Winter" book delay has caused a lot or rumors and speculations among fans, one of which is the release date rumor range from 2017 to 2018. The author refused to give an update on the progress of the book, which is probably the reason for these rumormongering.

Martin did not directly admit it, but the author claimed that he holds several thousands of pages that detail the history of Westeros before the "Games of Thrones," according to Deadline. This indicates that the author is not only working on "The Winds of Winter" but also on an unnamed prequel book.

Meanwhile, the plot for the "Games of Thrones" Season 7 has been leaked online. The upcoming season of GOT is currently being produced in Spain, and the casts were disappointed when news of the plot leak reached them. The HBO plot series has advanced beyond the current GOT novel, which is why fans no longer have any idea on what to expect from the HBO show. The leak, however, may force the producers and writers to rewrite the plot but this is only a theory.
