Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL share the same IP53 dust and water resistance rating, which means that both handsets can only survive on light sprays of water at an angle.

However, a recent video uploaded on the internet shows that the Google Pixel smartphone is being taken through a variety of water tests. The last part sees the device submerged underwater for 30 minutes, which is definitely more than what the phone's IP53 should technically allow. Interestingly enough, the Google Pixel smartphone survived and continued to work just fine.

Furthermore, the only problem is that at the end of the YouTube video, the speaker of Google Pixel had lost most of its output. However, the video does not specify exactly at what point did the speaker got affected, whether if it was damaged immediately upon submersion or only for the reason that the phone spent 30 minutes under water.

For those unfamiliar with the IP53 rating, it technically means that the device is protected against water falling as a spray at any angle up to 60 degrees. It almost sounds like the handset is water-resistant but there are certain conditions to its resistance, and anything more than the specified time will damage a person's phone, according to Ubergizmo.

Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset backed up by 4GB of RAM and at least 32GB of internal storage. The Google Pixel comes with a 1080p resolution AMOLED panel, while the Google Pixel XL makes use of a 5.5-inch QHD or 1440p resolution AMOLED panel.

Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL smartphones share a number of similarities, such as their HTC build and design, the same 12MP rear camera sensor by Sony and carries the latest version of Android 7.1 Nougat, Android Headline has learned.
