Huahua Media and Paramount are set to collaborate once again after Huahua invested in the World War II romantic thriller "Allied."
Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard stars in "Allied" and directed by Robert Zemeckis. Paramount Pictures and Huahua Media partnered to market the film in China. Huahua Media will also act as the chief Marketing arm in China and the sole Chinese investor in the movie.
According to Deadline, the deal for "Allied" follow Paramount's similar tie-up with Huahua Media for "Star Trek Beyond" and "Transformers: Age of Extinction." "Star Trek Beyond" has grossed $66 million at the Chinese box office since it opened on Sept. 2. "Transformers: Age of Extinction," on the other hand, crossed the $300 million mark, a first in the China box office for a foreign film.
The story of "Allied" revolves around Max Vatan (Pitt), an intelligence officer, and Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard), a French resistance fighter who fall in love behind enemy lines in 1942 on a mission to kill a German Ambassador. "Allied" is based on an original story penned by Steven Knight who also acts as executive producer for the film.
Variety reported that "Allied" is one of the year's anticipated films. Megan Colligan, Paramount's President of Worldwide Distribution and Marketing said they are pleased to continue their successful partnership with Huahua who will bring the movie to audiences throughout China.
"Allied" is Huahua's 3rd worldwide investment according to Kefei Wang, Huahua CEO. He also said that they are expecting a positive response from the Chinese market, banking on the success of their previous releases.
The Beijing-based company also invested in "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" alongside Shanghai Film Group. Both companies will be lead marketing partners for the film along with Paramount in China. "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" is a sequel to the 2012 Tom Cruise feature.
"Allied" is coming to theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.
