Rumor has it that Samsung might launch the Galaxy S8 earlier than expected to counter the slip-ups of Galaxy Note 7. It has been said that the device is on track for a regular late February release, just like the phone's predecessors.

As reports claimed that the Galaxy S8 will roll out by February 2017, the firmware development of the smartphone has already started at Samsung. This could indicate that the Samsung's smartphone keeps getting closer to reality, according to BGR.

The ROM of Galaxy S8 is currently being developed for China, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, UK, Korea, and the US. Once the first stable build has been established, other countries will follow, SamMobile has learned.

However, this is just a regular schedule for Samsung's software team. Exactly this time in 2015, the South Korean tech company started the development program for the Galaxy S7. This seems to imply that the tech monster isn't in a hurry to launch the Galaxy S8, nor should it be, considering what happens when a company rushes devices to production.

Anyway, Samsung has a lot of riding on the success of the S8. Recent leaks and rumors point in the direction that Galaxy S8 will arrive in two variants, wherein the first device will come along with a 2K 5.1-inch curved Super AMOLED display, while the other one will be packed with a 5.5-inch 4K panel.

It's also expected that the devices will be powered by the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor globally, but in some markets, the devices will sport Samsung's in-house Exynos 8895 CPU.

The larger model is believed to pack a dual-camera system, which resembles to the one on board in iPhone 7 Plus. It has also been said that a new artificial intelligence assistant will replace S Voice on the S8. Other notable feature of the S8 series will be the Viv virtual assistant.
