Yale University alumni who volunteer as representatives to their companies have some helpful advice for those who are looking for a job, especially how to land the job you want. Aside from career advice, they also offer networking opportunities to those who are seeking for employment.

Yale University considers job fairs as very vital links that help YU students find internships and employments in the future. That is why the university encourages its alumni to participate in these kinds of fair so that they can provide insider insight as to what is the best opportunity in their respective industries and how they can present themselves best.

To show their commitment to this endeavor, the university has recently conducted two job fairs for those who are seeking employment in the finance industry. Around 235 people showed up during the job fairs where the alumni brought their expertise and passion to motivate job seekers. Susan Bauer, Director of Employer and Alumni Relations in the Career Center, said that they hope to expand the alumni influence more in the coming job fairs.

One alumni, Yiriel Liss, who works at Goldman Sachs, have this advice to those who are looking to break into the accounting and finance world: "Here’s my list: give your all, network, apply for jobs in a systematic manner and, above all, don’t lose hope," he said.

He added that along with that, it is important that job seekers should know how to stand out. “I have found that students with unique experiences or hobbies can do better in their job seeking. Find that interest that you have that makes you who you are, and pursue it. Show the employer why they would want to hire and work with you for years to come," Liss added.
