While students may have different opinions on internships, it is undeniably one of the best ways to start your career and be able to work in your dream company. There are a lot of companies to choose from right now. That's why students also need to be discerning when it comes to where they want to be trained for the "real world."

Recently, Vault has revealed its top internship programs for 2017. It was reported that college students from Georgia will not need to look far and wide since three Atlanta companies were found to have some of the best and prestigious internship programs in the nation.

Mercedes-Benz and Coca-Cola were ranked 22nd and 25th, respectively, on the Most Prestigious Internship Programs list. Google, Apple, Goldman Sachs & Co., Facebook and J.P. Morgan got the top five spots.

Other companies on the Most Prestigious Internship Programs list are Microsoft, Elon Musk's Tesla Motors, Morgan Stanley, The Walt Disney Company and Twitter. The Home Depot Inc., on the other hand, ranked 45 on the Top 50 Overall Internships.

According to Forbes, Vault's data came from a survey of more than 8,500 current and former interns. The participants were asked to review their experiences and rate the prestige of other companies. One Google intern described the Internet giant as "a company where you must work very hard, but they also provide opportunities to play."

"At the same time, college students view internships as the best way to test drive their chosen career path," Tara McCaffrey, vice president marketing at Vault.com, said. "These rankings offer students an opportunity to determine which companies are the best fit for their career goals."

Evercore's Advisory Summer Analyst and Summer Associate Program got the top spot for Vault's 50 Best Internships list. Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP's Summer Internship and Elliott Davis Decosimo's ENVISION Summer Internship Experience got second and third, respectively. Moreover, the list also includes Nickelodeon Animation Studio's Nickternship Program which was able to take a place in the ninth spot.
