Google's Pixel smartphone event was a successful one, as it was filled with many surprises. Product Management VP Brian Rakowski even gone as far as calling the Pixel smartphone as the best smartphone camera anyone has ever made.

To corroborate the claim, camera lead Isaac Reynolds pitched in a number of images taken with either the Pixel or the Pixel XL. Comments on Reynolds' post from Google employees stated that some of the photos were taken by members of the tech company's own engineering team.

Examining the exchangeable image file format (EXIF), the data proves that the photos were taken with one of the two smartphones. Around half of the photos received some type of post-processing with the Snapseed or VSCO mobile editing apps; however, it's an impressive selection of photography that Pixel made a deliberate display with its versatility in a number of different lighting and color situations, The Verge reported.

Furthermore, the software company DxOMark Mobile scored the Pixel smartphone with 89, claiming that the Pixel is the highest-rated smartphone camera they have ever tested. Pixel smartphone's image quality scores are impressive across the board, but the device is particularly strong in providing a very high level of detail from its 12.3 megapixel camera.

However, if Google treats Pixel like the previous phone endeavors, Google's Pixel smartphone will either get killed or dumped. An analyst at investment banker William Blair,  Anil Doradla, stated that Google's Pixel handset is another science project, and it is not a competitive threat to Apple's devices, Forbes reported.

Doradla also stated that they are somewhat perplexed by the launch of the Pixel smartphone, and they believe that the device will not be viewed in a positive light by the Android ecosystem players, which includes Samsung. Doradla added that the launch of the Pixel smartphone comes close to Google's recent announcement of the termination of Project Ara.
