Google's upcoming Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are shaping up to be two of the most sensational devices of the year. The tech giant unveiled the new smartphones earlier this week, and the handsets sound like a hardcore Android fan's dream.

The Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are packed with cutting-edge specs, class-leading cameras, premium hardware, as well as the latest Nougat software. But, Google still needs to make a great effort to get its footing in the increasingly competitive United States smartphone market.

Samsung and Apple dominate the smartphone industry in America, combining to account for nearly all profits generated from device sales each quarter. If other handset manufacturers hope to manage any sales, they need an extraordinary support from carriers. In order to get that support, phone makers often agree to exclusive deals, according to BGR.

Google and its Pixel smartphones, are slated to launch in the coming weeks, the tech company struck a deal with the wireless company Verizon. In which, Verizon will be the only wireless carrier that will sell the devices in the United States. Subscribers of other carriers will have to buy the devices unlocked directly from Google, or from one of its retail partners.

In case an exclusive deal wasn't already bad enough for the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, things get worse. Part of Google's deal with the wireless company involves letting the Verizon ruin two of the best things about Google's upcoming smartphones.

Anyway, Google plans to open a pop-up store in New York, which means tech fans will be able to witness the products that the tech giant showed off at its event earlier this week. The products include the new Pixel smartphones, Google Home speaker, as well as Google WiFi and Daydream View virtual-reality headset, CNET reported.
