The director in charge of "Mafia 3," Haden Blackman, seems to love everything about the notorious Cosa Nostra. One particular aspect of that famed crime syndicate he likes so much is their penchant for violent and deeply unsettling methods of eliminating enemies.

Blackman included the option to feed your enemies to alligators, which is supposedly a favorite amongst wise guys. In an interview with IGN, Blackman spoke at length about incorporating alligators into "Mafia 3" and why he wanted it there.

But before Blackman discussed the alligators, he spoke about the setting for "Mafia 3" first. He said that this upcoming game is set in New Bordeaux, a fictitious version of New Orleans. He added that the game is set ten years after the setting for "Mafia 2," wherein the year of the upcoming installment is set in 1968.

According to Cinema Blend, gamers get to play as Lincoln Clay, a man bent on taking down the Italian Mafia. Blackman added that their inspiration for New Bordeaux came not only from New Orleans but also from Chicago and New York, which were infamous for birthing organized crime in the early 20th century.

Blackman also spoke of the franchise's strengths, wherein he mentioned that one aspect of their success in the video game industry is their incorporation of a good story into their games. According to him, "Mafia 2" was successful because it had a good narrative, and when they started developing "Mafia 3," he made sure that it would also feature a great narrative.

Blackman also said that he wants his gamers to have more freedom in exploring "Mafia 3," which is why they added more features in the game to let players have more activities to do. One of the things they added is the alligators, which is one of his favorite animals. He thought it would be a great idea to let his players feed their enemies to ravenous alligators, just so they can feel what it's like to be a real Mafioso.

From the look of the video it seems like this game is fit for anyone who wishes he's a mobster. "Mafia 3" comes out on Oct. 7 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Mac OS and Microsoft Windows.
