Looks like AMD is on a roll. AMD's Polaris 10 GPUs were well-received by manufacturers of tech devices and end-users alike. Now, the popular chipset maker is on the verge of another major breakthrough.

If recently surfaced rumors are anything to go by, AMD's GPUs are working closely with Apple for the purported MacBook Pro 2016 laptops.

Amidst rumors indicating that the aforesaid GPUs would be powering Apple's new MacBook Pro, even bigger news seem to have surfaced online. Reports claim that the imminent Apple MacBook Pro will boast the AMD Zen APU.

Contrary to Windows laptops, Apple has always emphasized on GPU performance when it comes to the much lauded MacBook Pro. Depending on what the two tech giants agree upon, we can expect to see the AMD Zen APU either in the form of a custom SoC or a regular variant, according to TechFrag.

The speculations stems from previous reports indicating that Kaby Lake or Coffee Lake are not advancing as much as Apple would like them to. Apparently, this gave AMD an opportunity to sneak a deal for them. If rumors proved to be true, AMD could develop a custom SoC design in bid to meet the demands of Apple for their impending MacBook Pro.

No doubt, the merger of Polaris and HBM2 in an APU will engender a radical upgrade for the highly anticipated MacBook Pro line, one that is likely to be much appreciated.

Meanwhile, other reports claim that the MacBook Pro 2016 will be powered by 7th gen Kaby Lake Processor.

Intel's latest chipset is likely to launch sometime in 2017, so there is a huge possibility that the laptop will hit the store shelves next year as well.

Besides, Apple could also be possibly gearing up to launch the new MacBook Pro models sometime next month, as the company's current development work on macOS 10.12.1 primarily focuses on preparing the OS to support the augmented hardware's new features. Those features include Touch ID support and OLED touch bar that replaces the current row of function keys located on the top of keyboard, MacRumors reported.
