iPad Mini 5 could be released alongside the new variant of iPad Pro 2 as predicted by a reliable analyst.

Apple rumor: iPad Mini 5 new variant

KGI analyst Ming Chi-Kuo has been the person that all media turns to, when it comes to Apple possible updates. Kuo, who has correctly predicted the iPhone 7, claims that a new iPad Pro variant, 10.5-inch screen, will debut in 2017. The model would be an up from the current 9.7 inch iPad Pro, Bloomberg wrote.  

Kuo further explains that the new iPad Pro will have 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch models - both are said to get A10X chip, as University Herald has reported a few days ago.

With that being said, the 9.7-inch iPad could likely belong to the Mini variant. For the record, the iPad Mini 4 that came in 2015 gets a 7.9-inch display. Apple could upgrade the tablet size along with expected features such as Retina display, a 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.

Kuo said that the major overhaul in iPads will not be seen until next year. This could mean that the public should expect the Macbook Pro 2016 released in October without any new iPad models. And since the iPad Mini 4 was launched a year ago, that would make sense to unveil a new product sometime in March 2017.

As the major upgrades in iPad Pro include the AMOLED display, it can be argued that the iPad Mini 5 could also sport similar feature. Other than that, Apple is expected to upgrade the display technology - allowing a smoother navigation.

Now that the possibility of iPad Mini 5 having a new size, many people question whether the model would get another name. Macworld has speculated that the upcoming 2017 tablet might be named as iPad Pro Mini given its A9X chip that is considered a lower specification.
