"Mafia 3: Rivals" is reportedly based in the same settings as the main game in New Bordeaux, but from a completely new perspective. The PS4, Xbox One and PC version of the latest title in the "Mafia" franchise will roll out on Oct. 7.

"Mafia 3" is set to launch after years of tight lips on a "Mafia" franchise. Game Developer 2K Games will roll out the game next month, who also confirmed a mobile game to be released simultaneously. The mobile version will be called "Mafia 3: Rivals" on iOS and Android handsets, Game Rant reported.

After releasing a comprehensive weapons trailer for "Mafia 3," 2K Games released 16 full minutes of a mission starring Lincoln Lay out and about in New Orleans tracking one of the main villain Sal Marcano's underlings, Tony Derazio. The video was previously shown at the Gamescom 2016 and the Tokyo Game Show 2016.

The "Mafia 3" gameplay demo showed shooting, driving, as well as moments of melee combat. At the end of the clip, an incredibly fierce gun battle between Lincoln Clay and Derazio's cronies heat up with the foes getting pumped full of lead poisoning.

2K Games also hinted of post-launch DLC plans for "Mafia 3" including free content as well as paid expansion soon after. These were revealed during a PAX West panel a couple of weeks back, with new outfits for the main character, performance enhancers, vehicle customization features, and the Judge, Jury and Execution pack's new weapons that is set to roll out in November, Ubergizmo reported.

Meanwhile, all the locations, characters and events in "Mafia 3: Rivals" will be the same as the console version, but is expected to be more of an RPG. Players are to take on rival gangs in battle RPG combat as well as recruit and train 40 crime bosses, eliminating any foes in the way. "Mafia 3: Rivals" is available for pre-register on the game's official website along with in-game bonuses.

"Mafia 3" was previously compared to "GTA V." However, 2K Games' parent company Take-Two Interactive claimed that the forthcoming crime title is a brand new experience in itself. The publisher's CEO Strauss Zelnick went on record to say that "Mafia 3" offers a completely different take on open world action.
