Despite rumors running rampant that "Pokemon Go" is losing its paying players, Niantic seems to be gearing up to roll out an array of awe-inspiring features for the mobile sensation in near future.

Niantic CEO John Hanke spilled the beans about the company's plan to delve in to Pokemon player battles while talking with the audience at the Techcrunch Disrupt (via VentureBeat).

Confirming that more Pokemon would be added to the augmented reality smartphone game, Hanke noted that his son has been asking for battling, trading and buddy Pokemon for quite a long time. However, Hanke remained tight-lipped about when player battles will be announced. Nevertheless, he said that Pokemon Battles "would be fun."

Though he accepted that the much-talked about feature could make its way onto the roadmap, Hanke did not divulge a specific release date.

But that's not all! Hanke also noted that players' Pokedex is likely to get bigger in near future, amidst new creatures winging their way to the hit mobile game. Hanke sees "Pokemon Go" developing just like Ingress, Niantic's earlier AR (augmented reality) game.

The developers roll out updates every two weeks, and it's no secret that the company has got the minimum viable product into the marketplace which should be a clear indication as far as where the developers intend to take the game is concerned.

Currently "Pokemon Go" features only the first generation Pokemon and still, there's no sign of the Legendary Birds Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno, mythic Pokemon Mew, or its clone, Mewtwo. Besides, shape shifting Pokemon Ditto has made an appearance yet.

Fret not! Though Hanke did not confirm the exact date when, but more Pokemon are definitely slated to make an appearance pretty soon, Wired reported.

In other news, Niantic has finally released the "Pokemon Go" Plus wristband.

For those unaware, "Pokemon Go" Plus wristband is a device that players can wear to perform a slew of functions including tracking distance, visit PokeStops and most notably, catch Pokemon without even looking at your smartphone, just by tapping a flashing LED from time to time, Forbes reported.

"Pokemon Go" Plus wristband will be up for grabs for $34.99, but finding one might not be an easy task as pre-order have already been sold out for weeks.
