Apple "MacBook Pro 2016", Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Dell XPS 13 are the 2016 laptop flagships that utilize the 7^th generation chipset Intel Kaby Lake processor. It's difficult to decide in which among the next generation laptops is the best buy but a head-to-head specs comparison should do a little help.

MacBook pro 2016 vs Surface Pro 5 vs Dell XPS 13

The following is the head-to-head specs comparison of the next generation laptops:

Processor

Reports suggested that the three newest laptops will be powered by 7^th generation chipset Intel Kaby Lake processor. The difference in performance lies in the operating system where MacOS Sierra for "MacBook Pro 2016", Windows 10 for Surface Pro 5 and Ubuntu for Dell XPS 13. Comparison of the three operating systems will be tackled in the next discussion.

Display

MacWorld revealed that "MacBook Pro 2016" is expected to have a 2304 x 1440 screen resolution, 4k or 5k screen with 400-500 pixels and a detachable touch screen. For the physical design, MacBook Pro will be available in 12 inches with different color variants.

On the other hand, Surface Pro 5 is expected to feature a 4k wide screen with 3,840 pixels which according to Tech Radar, a super sharp resolution. Size is rumored to be the same with its predecessor Surface Pro 4 which rendered in 13.3 inches.

Lastly, Dell XPS 13 will weigh 1.2 to 1.29 kilograms which is 9.5 mm thick. Display panels are expected to have either a QHD (in addition to 3200 x 1800 pixels) or FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) in which consumers have to choose between with or without touch support.

Storage and Connectivity

The three laptops are likely to replace the traditional USB port with USB Type-C or simply USB-C for better connectivity. For the storage, MacBook Pro will likely to retain its 128 GB and 256 GB while Surface Pro 5 will come in 128 GB according to CNET. Dell XPS 13 on the other hand will have the same storage with Microsoft Surface Pro 5, 128 GB.

Price

Dell XPS 13 in gold, rose gold and silver variants price will start at $799. "MacBook Pro 2016" will start at $1,099 for the 13 inches model while Surface Pro 5 entry-level is amounting to $899.
