Twitter has revealed their plans of longer tweets back in May but no actions have been seen until today. Twitter longer tweets are coming in September 19 with major changes including the exclusion of username, quoted tweets, links and images in the 140-character count.

Android Police recounted the days when Twitter used to be an SMS alternative, going back those days when cellular phones text messaging characters had limits. This is what separate Twitter from other social media platforms like Facebook, Google Plus, Instagram, Snapchat and many others where characters are free flowing.

Recently, Twitter longer tweets have been the hot topics among users when they confirmed about the expansion or the limits of the tweets. This big change is coming to everyone's account in September 19. The Verge reported that expansion does not mean adding extra characters to the original limit. It means, usernames, quoted tweets, links and images are no longer counted when tweeting.

This is a good news among Twitter communities but it is not yet clear whether the updates will go all at once or in one at a time manner. Though The Verge made it cleared that starting next week, the change will start at the message. Nevertheless, this big movement from Twitter will give people their full freedom to express their thoughts according to Jack Dorsey, Twitter CEO.

In addition, Dorsey assured that Twitter will not lose its creativity, speed and brevity with the upcoming upgrade. He said that tweets are considered as "beautiful constraints" recalling the good old days of SMS text messaging.

This major change in Twitter will address issues such as tweet storms and screenshots using the iPhone Notes app. Dorsey articulated that this change is concise while giving the users the convenience it seeks while expressing his thoughts. The chance of using media content often without having to count them in is a big possibility in the near future.
