Rumors are rife that the Xbox One version of "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be called off. The revelation came as a huge surprise for avid gamers who have been waiting with bated breath for the upcoming action role-playing game.

If rumors doing rounds are anything to go by, the Xbox One version of Square Enix's upcoming title mysteriously disappeared from the Xbox live Japan list, leaving gamers in utter shock. This sparked speculations among fans that "Kingdom Hearts 3" could be PlayStation 4 exclusive game.

Fret not! "KH3" was listed back, although there are no further details regarding the release date and pre-ordering of the game.

In addition to the Xbox One version being listed back, rumor mills have been swirling a slew of speculations around "Kingdom Hearts 3" hinting that the long-awaited title could be ported to the PC platform. However, the developer has remained tight-lipped regarding a PC version of the upcoming sequel. Nevertheless, considering their recent focus on transporting console-exclusive games to PC, it won't be surprising if the studio goes for a PC release in near future, SegmentNext reported.

In other news, a new playable character is rumored to be added to "Kingdom Hearts 3" roster of playable characters - Kairi - who will be joining forces with King Mickey, Sora and Riku and the rest of gang.

Who Is Kairi?

Kairi is one of Sora's oldest friends, and potential love interest as Sora does whatever it takes to grab her attention, even if it means competing with Riku.

Kairi made her appearance in the first installment of "Kingdom Hearts" as one of the Princesses of Hearts that Ansem and Heartless want to defeat to pave the way for darkness reign.

Sora manages to save Kairi, and she reappeared in "Kingdom Hearts 2" as a teenage waiting for Sora and Riku to return to her life.

It was revealed that Kairi can handle a Keyblade in "Kingdom Hearts 2," teasing her as a potential Keyblade master, but much to gamers' dismay, it was later revealed that she will not be a playable character in "KH2," Mobile&Apps reported.

Avid "Kingdom Hearts" fans are waiting anxiously for Square Enix to introduce new playable characters besides Sora in "KH3." Game director Tetsuya Nomura previously hinted that Eraqus and a young Xenohart will be among the playable characters in the game's prologue.

EB Games rubbished rumors about a Nintendo NX version "KH3" and Square Enix has neither confirmed nor denied rumors regarding the sequel, as the developer is currently concentrating on "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue," which is slated to hit the store shelves in December for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.

"Kingdom Hearts 3" is scheduled to release in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
