The netizens were disappointed when Sony announced that Xperia Z2 and Z3 will not be able to get an upgrade to the latest OS Android 7.0 or known as the Android Nougat. However, the possibility of having the latest OS in both Sony Xperia is imminent through the Android 7.0-based ROM.

Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3 will likely to get the Android 7.0 or Nougat OS through the use of Android 7.0 ROM. According to Team Android website, they are still on the process of compiling the ROM names, developers as well as the links to download from the official page. Though there are no specific dates for the said update, the site claimed that it is coming soon.

For technical information, getting a ROM-based Android for your phone has its fair share of advantage and disadvantage according to How To Geek. Since ROM stands for read-only-memory, the newest OS will be installed in your android device ROM and will replace the old OS. This usually works in older devices that are not likely to get newer versions of OS. However, in Nexus devices the custom ROM is not compelling to use since Google is having regular updates.

On the other hand, Ubergizmo revealed that Sony is not the one to be blamed for the fuzz. The report claimed that Sony has nothing to do about it because Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3 did not pass the Google's Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) which was done during the developer preview program. The update does not support devices with Adreno 3XX GPUs. Since the two Xperia is powered by Snapdragon 801 with Adreno 330, they are not included in the list.

Users of Sony Xperia Z2 and Z3 were disappointed by the news and it was exacerbated by the fact that Sony was the first to check the preview of Android 7.0 or Nougat. Meanwhile, users have to wait for the ROM-based Android to come out or switch to another smartphone that is compatible with Nougat.
