Verizon targeted 461 cities across the United States to be covered by their latest network enhancement called LTE advanced (LTE-A) that provide 50% faster internet speed. According to PC Mag report, the company used the three-carrier aggregation technology where to obtain the theoretical maximum speed of 300Mbps. As a matter of fact, Verizon is way ahead from its two biggest competitors AT&T and Sprint where both utilized the 2x carrier aggregation.

Unfortunately, not all devices are supported with the network enhancement. The following is the comprehensive list of capable devices supported by LTE-A listed by Verizon : Apple - iPhone (6 and 6 Plus, 6s and 6s Plus, 5 SE) and iPad (Pro, Pro 9.7, Air 2, Mini 4), Asus - Asus Zenpad Z8, Blackberry - Blackberry PRIV, HTC - HTC (10, Desire 626, One M9), LG - LG (V10, G4, G5), Motorola - Motorola (Nexus 6s, Moto X, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Droid, Droid Turbo 2, Droid Turbo), Netgear - Netgear MHs AC791L, Novatel - Novatel MiFi USB620L, Samsung - Samsung (Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S7 Edge, S7, View, Tab S2, Tab E 8.0, Note 7) and Sony -Sony (Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z2 Tablet).

Chief Wireless Network Engineer Nicki Palmer said in Verizon press release that LTE advanced works like a highway with four lanes. In his metaphor, he described the current 4G network as the lane the subscriber is currently driving and they can immediately change lanes flawlessly without disturbing the traffic. That's how he described the "Verizon Wireless LTE Advance" (LTE-A) where data move quickly over the best network among the three aggregated carriers.

For those devices not included in the list, Verizon does not guarantee an access to LTE advanced for the meantime due to compatibility issues. The only way for subscribers to avail the 300Mbps is to purchase post-paid or pre-paid phone which are immediately available in Verizon website for orders.
