"Pokémon Go" developer Niantic has been stepping up, as it previously banned players who used third-party services to help them become Pokemasters. But, the game developer is reversing some permanent banned accounts they mistakenly issued.

Players of the augmented reality game who felt they were wrongly banned by the game developer might get a reprieve. For the reason that Niantic made it known that in their quest to block bots and data scrapers, some "Pokémon Go" players who used third-party map apps to locate the virtual creatures were wrongly blocked, Engadget reported.

In a post made by Niantic CEO John Hanke, he stated that they are reversing some of those bans, but only for those players who used add-on maps.

Hanke stated that some players of the video game may not have become fully aware that some add-on map apps do more than just show their nearby Pokémon.

Niantic CEO added that each end-user app can be utilized as a collection tool by the app creator. As collecting and forwarding data invisibly to the app creator with or without the knowledge of the end user. These "Pokémon Go" apps will technically have an effect similar to DDoS attacks on their servers. In which the data transfers appeared to be malicious. So, the game developer acted somewhat indiscriminately when protecting its servers, based on the report of CNET.

However, Niantic CEO made it known that "Pokémon Go" accounts that were created to pull out data from the video game, or those accounts who used GPS spoofing techniques to play in other locations around the world, will remain permanently banned, according to The Verge.

Hanke clarified that their goal is to provide a fair, fun, and legitimate experience for all "Pokémon Go" players. So, aggressive banning will continue to occur for players who engage in cheating.
