Warner Bros. has tapped the American film director Doug Liman to helm the "Justice League Dark" movie, which was written by Guillermo del Toro.

Director Liman, who helmed Tom Cruise's "Edge of Tomorrow," is no longer on the director's chair for the X-Men standalone movie, "Gambit."

"Justice League Dark" film was in development for a couple of years as a directing vehicle for del Toro, it has been claimed that director Liman will assume the directing duties from del Toro, whose schedule meant he no longer could helm the film.

But, del Toro still produces and penned the most recent draft of the script, which supposedly will have a major role in the DC Comics movie universe, based on the report of Variety.

Part of the reason why director Liman is on board in the movie is that, the film keeps getting its production date pushed back from late 2015 to early 2016 and then to 2017. Because of that, 20th Century Fox is determined to fire up the production in January of 2017.

So, the search is on to find someone to be at the helm for Channing Tatum as the mutant Gambit, according to Hollywood Reporter.

However, "Justice League Dark" movie was a fairly recent DC title that gathered together heroes such as John Constantine (Keanu Reeves' 2005 film), Deadman, Shade the Changing Man, Zatanna and Swamp Thing, among others, Yahoo reported.

Anyway, director Liman is famous for his kinetic and propulsive action film sensibilities, thanks to Liman's hits such as the American-German thriller film "The Bourne Identity," as well as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."

In addition, Liman is shaking things up with his upcoming several movies, which include the 1980s drug cartel crime drama - "American Made," that reunited the director with Cruise.
