Images of a new PS4 was featured at an auction store showing changes in the console just after Microsoft's Xbox One hit the stores. News followed reporting that a new version of the console will be released on September.

Sony plans on releasing a new version of their own gaming console, PlayStation4, next month. The device is slimmer and much less expensive compared to the PlayStation 4 currently available. The new version of PS4 is an upgraded version that has 4K capabilities, which the company described earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The details of the new versions of PS4 is set to be announced on a September 7 event to be held in New York. Reports suggested that Sony cut-off the production of the current PlayStation 4 console to introduce the slimmer version that may replace the launch of the standard version of PlayStation 4 console, according to The Verge.

On Last June 2016, chief executive of Sony, Andrew house confirmed that the company is indeed working on a more powerful console codenamed "Neo". The details of the PlayStation 4 Neo was revealed during the 2016 E3 gaming conference. The company boasted that the new console will have a faster processor, improved graphics, and a 4K resolution capability.

However, Sony CEO Andrew House said that the new version of PlayStation 4 will be alongside the standard variant. Furthermore, the new version of PlayStation 4, PS4 Neo, will complement the standard PS4 console.

Just this August, Microsoft released a slim version of their trademark gaming console, Xbox One S. The Xbox One S, however, does not support 4K gaming. This means, that the new PlayStation 4 Neo will be more powerful than the Xbox One S.

There are already online photos comparing the physical appearances of the standard PlayStation 4 and its slimmer version. It can be seen in a gaming forum, NeoGAF.
