The 2016 Rio Olympics is finally over and the clock starts to tick down to the Olympics 2020 in Japan.

Rio Olympics closing ceremony welcomes Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

Japan's prime minister Shinzo Abe made a really special appearance in the summer Olympics closing ceremony.

In the video, the prime minister was on his way to the Tokyo's airport while worrying whether he could make it to Rio on time. He then morphed into Super Mario, rushed into a green pipe taken from Doraemon's 4D pocket, drilled his path and came out from a giant pipe right at the center of Maracana Stadium.

He was loudly applauded by the crowds. His appearance was in contrast to his serious character, which made it a surprise that quickly garnered praises. He did close the parade well - holding a glowing red ball as the surroundings faded to dark - reminding us of the rising sun flag.

In the video, there are several others Japan's best-selling characters including Hello Kitty and Doraemon. And no, there is no Pikachu or any appearance of catching them with Pokemon GO.

Japan is well-known for the robots and animes. Should you be expecting many encounters with Pikachu or hanging out with human robots in Tokyo Olympics 2020? What we know so far, there will be cool technologies that wow the crowds.

For instance, expect paintings on the sky in the opening ceremony of the 2020's Olympic games. Previously, the Fortune wrote about Japan startup ALE - a company that plans to bring space age entertainment by generating man-made meteor shower.

Today, Japan tourism utilizes robots as helpers. CNN noted that in Odaiba, visitors can ask travelling tips and best advices to enjoy Tokyo from a robot. Not to forget Panasonic's project to create electronic necklace that works as a translation device.

The iconic Olympics stadium designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, will be ready to host the biggest sports event on Earth in 2020 - where the track and field games will be held in the centerpiece, Forbes reported.

While the world's best athletes are going back to training field for Tokyo Olympics, you can expect all the revolutionary things that exist in Japan as they arrive in 2020.
