"Overwatch" Season 2 is expected to utilize a 1 to 5000 scale, which will be divided into 7 tiers such as Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master and Grandmaster. Each tier covers about 500 skill ratings, reportedly.

Once a tier has been achieved, the player remains there for the entire season even if the SR drops below the required SR to get the said tier. However, this will not apply to Master and Grandmaster tiers, IGN reported.

For a Master or Grandmaster tier in "Overwatch" Season 2, the player will be subject to SR decay. This means that if the player failed to play competitive for seven days, the 50 SR will be lost every 24 hours. This decay has a floor though. The player could only go down to the bottom of Diamond tier.

"Overwatch" Season 2 will see changes to its competitive and ranked gameplay as revealed by game director Jeff Kaplan. An overhaul of skill ratings, the death of Sudden Death and the addition of time-bank to hybrid, assault, and escort maps are just some of the changes to "Overwatch" Season 2 competitive mode.

In "Overwatch" Season 2, all of Sudden Death, including coin toss, will be going away. The control maps such as Nepal is also expected to always have a winner. The assault maps such as Volskaya or Hanamura is said to continue the use of the the time bank system where the player owns a set amount of time to play. If the player's team finishes quickly then the next round will have the remaining time to utilize.

Moreover, "Overwatch" Season 2 hybrid maps such as the Numbani or Kings Row and payload maps such as Dorado and Gibraltar, will also use the time bank system as well. If the player push the payload to the end with three minutes left, the player is allowed to play another round to see how far the player can push it.
