The Air Force ROTC scholarship program is created to help students earn their college degree and, at the same time, prepare to become an Air Force Officer. The curriculum is developed to foster the work ethic and principles that students need to be able to contribute to society and the U.S. Air Force.

According to USAScholarships.com, the Air Force ROTC scholarship program is offered at more than 1,100 colleges and universities throughout the country. Students who pass the program will get a monthly stipend of $300 for freshmen, $350 for sophomores, $450 for juniors and $500 for seniors.

To be eligible for the Air Force ROTC scholarship program, candidates need to achieve an SAT composite of 1180 on tests taken before Mar. 2016 or ACT composite of 26.. This is for math and critical reading portions only.

The applicant must also have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. This is non-negotiable. A Physical Fitness Assessment, consisting of crunches, push-ups, pull-ups and a 1.5-mile run, would need to be completed and a Letter of Certification would need ot be submitted.

For the scholarship interview, applicants would need to be a citizen of the United States. He or she would need to be a high school graduate and be 17 years old before the activation of the Air Force ROTC scholarship.

Those who want to apply can register through this link. Deadline of the submission of the completed application packet should be on or before Dec. 1, 2016.

Supporting documents include a Counselor Certification or a Copy of Transcript, SAT and/or ACT scores, GPA and Extracurricular Activity Sheet.

"You're under no obligation by simply applying for an Air Force ROTC scholarship," the program's official website read. "However, if you are awarded a scholarship, you become obligated when you accept and sign an agreement with the United States Air Force. If you are under legal age in the state where the school is located, your parent or legal guardian signs this agreement."
