Many know him to be Will Turner or Legolas but for some people in the higher education platform, he is known as the guy with a doctorate degree from his home town.

It was in Canterbury, United Kingdom that he studied. It was back at the University of Kent that he earned his higher education. But he never expected to return to his alma mater so soon. According to Business Insider, the leading man said he was proud to be presented with such an honor from his alma mater.

Orlando broke out as a star starting with The Lord of The Rings as Legolas. But before he became a big time star and earned a net worth of $35 million, he, like normal people, went to university.

Orlando Bloom's net worth of $35 million was a steady rise. The English actor who was born in 1977, appeared in multiple epic movies but attended primary school. He started at St. Peter's Methodist Primary school. He then went to King's School and St. Edmund's School in Canterbury.

At a young age, he was found to be dyslexic. His mother then encouraged him to take art and drama instead. It was in 1993 that he moved to London to finish a 2 year A Level course in Drama, Photography and Sculpture. This was at the Fine Arts College in Hampstead. Having joined the National Youth Theatre, he earned a scholarship which he used to enroll at the British American Drama Academy. He also enrolled at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama but he was unable to graduate because he was busy filming the Lord of the Rings.

In 2010, Bloom was awarded with an Honorary Degree from the University of Kent at Canterbury Cathedral. Four years later, he received a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He wore a red gown and a mortarboard.

''It's a really big deal. It's an exciting day for me. I'm really honoured to be back in my home town. I have so many amazing memories of the cathedral and Canterbury," says Bloom.

As of May 2007, Bloom has appeared in four of the top 15 highest-grossing films of all time.
