A monster Mustang, which is a prototype of what's claimed to be the 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, is on the loose in Michigan.

The 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 prototype has been spotted specifically on the streets outside Ford's Dearborn Development Center. In the video uploaded by fan forum Mustang6G, the 2018 Ford Mustang calmly, but not quietly moving stealthily the perimeter of the automaker's facility. And there may be something special under the car's camouflaged hood.

Sources claimed that the vehicle is getting a 750 horsepower supercharged 5.2-liter cross-plane crank version of the flat-plane crank naturally-aspirated Voodoo V8 in the current Shelby GT350. Others suggested that the car could be a twin-turbo Ecoboost take on the Mustang GT's 5.0-liter Coyote V8, based on the report of Fox Sports.

The 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 prototype has the carbon fiber wheels and rear spoiler of the GT350R. The floating rotor brake setup of the GT500 prototype is like the GT350. The prototype is also equipped with quad exhaust tips similar to those featured on the GT350 and GT350R.

But, the key visual difference is the thick black camouflage covering the front end of the 2018 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 prototype, according to Torque News.

The heavy camouflage led to a number of speculations, but this 2018 Mustang appears to be a slightly larger bulge in the hood compared to the GT350 model. In which it could possibly make room for a supercharger or the piping of the long-rumored twin turbo setup.

However, as Shelby GT500's previous generation relied on a supercharger for its V8, it only made a 662 horsepower (HP) in the process, Slash Gear reported.

Ford Motor Company has not confirmed that a new GT500 is in the works, even though this isn't the first time that a prototype has been spotted.
