As Apple Inc. has yet to unleash the new "iMac 2016," the upcoming desktop already boasted its powerful specifications and virtual reality (VR) compatibility.

The new AMD Polaris 10 graphics processing unit (GPU) is said to be the main component that allows the latest iMac to support virtual reality VR devices. The new graphics chips are based on the most recent FinFET 14-nanometer architecture technology that assures an extremely fast performance, based on the report of MNR Daily.

Roy Taylor of the multinational semiconductor company - AMD, stated that their company recently finished the downsizing to 14nm on the Polaris 10, in which it allows them to create GPUs that will operate with the minimum specification of virtual reality at a cheaper price and in bigger volumes.

The component of "iMac 2016" will also function faster and consume less power compared to the previous versions. The recent development clears the way for iMac users to enjoy VR headsets by the second half of the year, according to Mac World.

Because of the integrated 16nm FinFET production approach, the AMD Radeon Polaris 10 chip on the device will technically increase the graphics performance of the iMac.

However, rumor has it that the new Apple desktop will be installed with the Kaby Lake chipset by Intel, a USB 3.1 support as well as a Display 1.2 support.

Furthermore, the "iMac 2016" is said to come along with the new macOS Sierra pre-installed and the Fusion Drive - the latest flash drive that lets users take advantage of a high-performance fusion of flash and conventional storage system, according to Mobilenapps.

Also, the display of the device is expected to remain at 27 inches, which is standard among the previous models with AMD Radeon GPUs. And if the upcoming Apple device indeed includes VR support, it will be the very first in the history of the tech giant, PC Mag reported.
