The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) granted access to all Russian volleyball players to the 2016 Rio Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Russian athletes are previously banned through the ruling from the the Court of Arbitration Sport from participating in the 2016 Summer Olympics due to the on-going doping scandal. There are a total of 271 athletes in total that are allowed to participate leaving 118 athletes that are not allowed to join the competition.

The FIVB, the world's governing body for volleyball, said that all volleyball players from Russia is cleared for the Rio Olympics. The clearance includes the Beach Volleyball Team, TASS reported.

 On July 24, IOC President Thomas Bach announced that all Russian athletes, except those competing for track and field, are allowed to join the 2016 Rio Olympics based on the approval of each sports federation or association. The statement was made after the IOC executive board ruled that no Russian athlete listed on the McLaren report nor those with previous restriction, even expired ones, is allowed to join the Summer Olympics.

A review panel, the IOC Independent Panel, will be giving the final decision to the sports federation on which athlete will be allowed to join the Olympics. The panel includes the Head of the IOC Medical Commission, Ugur Erdener from Germany; the Chair of the IOC Athletes' Commission Claudia Bokel who is also a member of the IOC Executive Board; Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr. who is also an IOC Executive Board Member, The Independent reported.

The details of the infamous probe into the alleged doping scandal and Disappearing Positive Test Results in Russia claims that the commission had found evidence supporting the allegation. The investigation was made by the Independent Commission of WADA spearheaded by Richard McLaren.

The results of the investigation suggested that the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and all sports federations ban the Russian athletes from all international competitions.
