Uber is eyeing on a global mapping project as part of their future plans.Every Uber ride comes with a technology that only less people appreciate. Technologies such as Mobile maps and GPS that allows you to navigate an alternate route for faster travel while providing you an accurate ETA.

At the present, Uber is boarding a mapping project globally, and hoping to offer the best services and features for their drivers by providing more useful statistics on pick-up sites and traffic patterns, BBC reported.

The taxi-booking app currently relying on the mapping technology of Google to display the local maps and other marked pick-up spots. But a senior Uber executive comes up with an idea of producing its own road maps to provide more relevant information to their customers. The company reportedly to invest $500m (£380m) for the mapping project, Uber Newsroom reported

Brian McClendon, vice president of Google maps until 2014 said that the present maps are a great starting point but some data are irrelevant to the app. He also writes to the Uber's website that there are some other things that should be updated like the accurate pick-up and drop-off points.

He also added that to be able to provide fair experience in other parts of the world where there's still doesn't have detailed maps or street signs the project seems a great fit.

Uber starts scanning the streets across US using mapping vehicles, these cars can track the geographical place of each highway and motorway.

The company said that this summer, these automobiles will be functioning in Mexico, it will be part of the wide proposal to use these vehicles in big towns around the globe.

Uber haven't released any statement regarding on the supposed investment amount, as well as the configuration of their global plan as per reports say.
