A slew of Pokevision alternatives that still work include Pokemon Go Desktop Map, PokeAlert, Compass for Pokemon, PokePilot and Skiplagged.

"Pokemon Go" has ousted its footsteps tracking system and the ability of numerous tracking websites to latch onto its API. As a result of this, Poke Radar, Pokevision, Pokewhere and PokeNotify have stopped working since the latest update. These services worked on the same "Pokemon Go" API.

Some of these aforementioned services received cease-and-desist letters from Niantic before the API closedown. Several reports doing rounds online speculate maps operating from cloud servers have been banned.

After rolling out "Pokemon Go," the studio is now putting screws to services players use in a bid to "catch 'em all." In "Pokemon Go" players are expected to move out of the comforts of their homes and step into the real world to capture virtual creatures that make an appearance on their smartphones, Yibada reported.

Compass for Pokemon

Developed last week, Compass for Pokemon is solely available for Android and there are no indications of an iOS version coming out anytime soon. According to a Reddit user, the app is flawless and they were even able to track down a Growlithe with it.

PokePilot

The beta for PokePilot is one of the only iOS alternatives, simply because most of these alternatives are created to work on Android, one Redditor noted. Players should choose one that is a map matching to Pokevision, rather than similar named service that utilize bots or spoof.

Skiplagged

This is another website map that reveals Pokemon in the region, but it is not sparred from flaws either as it only works in big cities because its crowdsourced, Heavy reported.

PokeAlert

Suggested on Reddit, this app is dubbed as inaccurate by several users. While some users could not get the map to work at all, quite a few users claimed the creature it shows spawning never makes an appearance. Their help page acknowledges this issue citing a boost in users that caused old spawns showing up as new. They're currently working on the problem.

'Pokemon Go' Desktop Map

This map enables users to run a scanner from their computer. To use it, users should click the link matching with their OS under Downloads, then install and open the app to get their Google Maps keys, and then paste it in and then log in with a Google account that's not linked with "Pokemon Go." Users stated that they run Pokemon Go Desktop Map from the PC, connecting it via a mobile browser and receive signals as soon as a creature they are interested in spawns nearby.

In other news, a new app dubbed, SmartPoke 2 has already surfaced online. The app reportedly bypasses the restrictions to the API that led PokeVision to eventually shut down.

The app is currently in beta, but it does work on the same concept as PokeVision, The Verge reported.

"Pokemon Go" players who do not want to opt for the alternatives above, can depend on Lures and Incense until the studio rolls out a new update to bring the footprints tracking feature back.
